Wow! My latest music video production received over 10,000 views in just 2 days. If you haven't seen the video yet, you can watch it here.
This was a project, I was truly proud to have produced/directed. As an artist I will always be unhappy with certain aspects of my work, but in the end it's not about perfection, but about making it work. And I felt that this video worked really well, which is why I decided to design promotional material and promote the hell out of it. One week before release I started a count-down. Every day I would post a countdown image accompanied with a link to a 20 seconds teaser video.
Another thing I did was to keep my friends on Facebook and my followers on Instagram in the loop regarding the filming and the post production process. I'd post set photos taken by my good friend, photographer Markus Dapper (his website) and I'd also post before/after images of my color correction work. This all kept reminding people that my new music video was coming out soon, but in an interesting way. I believe that this way of giving people a look behind the scenes does not give them the feeling that they are being spammed with self-promotional posts. I hope I was successful in making people feel like they saw something interesting while at the same time drawing their attention to the upcoming release of the new music video.
I did this on Facebook (profile and artist page), Instagram and of course this website. On the day of release I also uploaded it to the "Upcoming"-section of HipHop.de, which is the biggest German rap music magazine. We were so lucky to be placed 2nd in their "Currently Hot"-section and things went from there. Below is a gallery of promo material I have designed.
